news

Dear concerned surfer of the blessed Internet's World Wide Web:

It's official. After three years of tweaking, mastering, remastering, deleting accidentally, undeleting, doing, redoing, undoing, and then doing it all again, The Coke Dares have officially decided to release our "new" record. Feelin' Up will officially hit the racks at your favrorite record store in America on July 8, 2008. However, we have a few copies lying around, and if you want it early come see us play at one of the venues below and to the left. Do more than that -- bring us your used Starbucks cups and gift cards, your favorite quilt, and a couple of knitting needles, and we'll whip up a cloth-ish version of the Newbery Award, just for you. Tell all your friends you wrote My Side of the Mountain!

Feelin' Up is 33 tracks in less than 30 minutes. Feelin' Up was recorded live, no mixing, to analog tape at Russian Recording by Mike Bridavsky. Feelin' Up is coming out as a split release by Essay Records and Reibenbach Records. On one of the songs Beach Dog sounds like he has just eaten a bunch of razor blades. On another, Pill Bottle drums and sings at the same time. Skye Miles, on bass, keeps it tight by wearing sunglasses, virtually, for the entire length (pronounced "lenth") of the record. It must be heard to be believed. As a special incentive we will be offering our documentary of the recording of Feelin' Up, In The Studio With... The Coke Dares, for only $2 with purchase of Feelin' Up! It's $5, otherwise, and with this mortgage crisis it's better to invest at a lower interest rate and then sell the DVD on Ebay in ten years.

Also, available for the first time, is our split CD release with Racebannon. Racebannon=Nirvana and The Coke Dares=The Jesus Lizard on our combined cover of the classic Jesus Lizard/Nirvana split from years passed. "Puss" b/w "Oh the Guilt" can be yours if the Price is Right is hosted by Drew Carey -- and it is.

We also have copies of the "classics" -- Here We Go With The Coke Dares, The Coke Dares Live in Spain, and The Slow EP, not to mention our split 7" with Push-Pull and our classic t-shirts. Please buy our t-shirts. We need to make new ones.

Please join us at one of our upcoming shows for a night of gambling and hobby-horse riding. And come visit us at MySpace. That's where friends get together for gambling and hobby-horse riding any time they want, but especially during work hours and when they should be paying attention to their significant other or their "smart" phones.

Love you like a hurricane,
THE COKE DARES

Hey anyone who lives in the towns in our tour date list that have TBA next to them. Want to play with us, help us get a show, tell us where the good restaurant/used CD store/laundromat is? Your help is much appreciated!
